My 2nd and 3rd graders did this project for a unit on Greek Art. Students were given pictures of the Greek Isles for inspiration. They drew on 9"x12" white contruction paper, traced with Sharpie, then painted with watercolors. The columns were drawn seperately on white construction paper and traced with Sharpie. They were required to draw the 3 different column styles: Doric, Ionic, and Corinthian, each had to be a different size. The columns were cut out and glued to the landscape with the largest one in the foreground, the medium one in the middleground, and the smallest in the background. Finally, students drew a Greek patterned border on a 10"x13" piece of white construction paper with glue. Once the glue was dry, they painted over the glue with metallic tempera. The landscapes were glued to the background paper. Pin It
